Sixty one years went into designing and building, the largest and most spectacular spaces in New Zealand. Commissioned in the early 1930s, it was to be a Gothic structure from stone or brick, but, after the Napier earthquake, the decision was made to build the cathedral out of reinforced concrete. One of the oldest cathedral's in Wellington, this, massive structure has been a source of, pride for New Zealenders and comfort for believers of the faith.
